Ashampoo firewall used normally but it makes no difference if switched off. It makes it much easier to help people in need. Please try again now or at a later time. This issue happened immediately after installation - I tried to open the program for the first time and received the error message at that point.

I rarely use it in Ubuntu because Linux is less susceptible to malware. Many AVG update problems have been attributed to a corrupted Winsock/TCP-IP stack. You can't use system restore. So unable to remove it or repair it, i used the avgremoval tool.

Some may see this post that missed some of the previous posts on the subject & will become more aware of the problem's existence. I seem to be fixing more problems lately.

If yes, please provide the code. I shut it down and when booting it back up, went for the update once again. While it specifically references AVG8 in the clean up, sadly it does not reference AVG7 by name in the process, bummer. Uninstalled Ashampo firewall and up dates now work.
Krauss A 1792 U.S. It just won't let go! Then run the setup files and chose to uninstall. Cheers!
edit 2: Tried again on my machine, I suspect I made a typo in the volume name of my Vista partition, the scan seems to be working now. O/S= OEM XP Home Edition + SP2 and updates as of 3May 08.
