Thanx in advance. When the download completes, the one that says "part" disappears and the file is now completely downloaded. The time now is 10:19 PM. But the Symantec Shared Folder in the Common Files Folder could not be removed.

Many AVG update problems have been attributed to a corrupted Winsock/TCP-IP stack. And if my information is incorrect, it is MY input and opinion. Soooooooooo, I guess I should try to restore to a more recent checkpoint. It maybe good (relatively) on windows, but its > crap on linux.

After I downloaded the AVG files (saved to desktop), there are 2 files on the desktop:1) avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332 (application file) 2) avg_free_stf_en_8_138a1332.exe (PART File)Normally the installation launches when I double click it. You have to deal with the entries in that folder. I went further to block all Norton stuff in my Firewall, and I believe that should be enough to prevent any remnants of Norton coming back. I commented out the invoke....
